As the Lord has compassion on us, so are we to have compassion on one another. Loving our neighbour as ourselves is the great commandment.

As a husband has compassion on his wife, so does the Lord have compassion on us. A husband may betray his wife but God will never betray us. We can trust Him for eternity because He has bethroted us and will take care of us.

God has compassion on us not because of anything good in us. He has compassion on us because we belong to His Son who bought us from the hands of the devil.
Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love.
