Forgiven Much...

44He turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Have you noticed this woman? When I came into your home, you didn’t give me any water so I could wash my feet. But she has washed my feet with her tears and dried them with her hair. 45You didn’t greet me with a kiss, but from the time I came in, she has not stopped kissing my feet. 46You didn’t even pour olive oil on my head, [d] but she has poured expensive perfume on my feet. 47So I tell you that all her sins are forgiven, and that is why she has shown great love. But anyone who has been forgiven for only a little will show only a little love.” 48Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven.

Luke 7:44-48

Forgiveness always comes after repentance has been shown whether it is verbal or not. God listens to our hearts more than our words. If we have a broken and contrite spirit, be sure that God will not refuse forgiveness to us.

Forgiveness from God for a Christian...

But if we confess our sins to God, he can always be trusted to forgive us and take our sins away.

1 John 1:9

As Christians there are times when we make mistakes. It is during those times that we can depend on the forgiveness of God. God forgives not because we merit forgiveness but because Jesus Christ shed His blood for our sins on the cross. Now He is our High Priest always interceding and praying for us before the Father. When we confess our sins, God sees the blood of His Son being presented before His throne. And it is His blood that washes us from every sin both knowing and unknowing.

How to Love God and People...

37Jesus answered:    Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. 38This is the first and most important commandment. 39The second most important commandment is like this one. And it is, “Love others as much as you love yourself.”

Matt. 22:37-39

How do we love God with all we have? Jesus said to his disciples, “If you love me you will keep my commandments.” We love God when our sincere desire is to please God with all that we have. And how can we please God? The book of Hebrews says that without faith it is impossible to please God. So faith in God is the principal thing on which all other forms of obedience rests. We have to believe that God will do what He has promised to do and that God has done what He has done in us through the death and ressurection of Christ. We have to believe that we have been delivered from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of Light. It is by faith that the just lives and it is the obedience that comes through faith that we express our love for God. By faith you have to believe that you have been set free and delivered from all evil. It is not going to happen after sometime or the next day. You have to believe now when you see the light of God’s word that you have already been delivered from all evil and remain standing by faith. That is how we please God and our obedience shows our love for Him. And when we love God we find that we have love for people too because God sheds His love in our hearts through which we are able to love others.

Definition Of Love...

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

I Corinthians 13:4-7

We can know whether we truly have love by these signs. Whenever we feel that we are deviating from these signposts we have to stop and evaluate our lives again in the light of God’s word.

God’s Love For Man...

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life

John 3:16

We can never doubt God’s love for us because of the way He has showed it to us. God gave the most precious thing He had - His only Son- for us so that you and I may have life and life more abundant. This love of God should motivate us to sacrifice everything for God and even then our everything is still too small to compare with what God has done for us. He has no pleasure over those who draw back when they see the cost of following Christ. We are to put our hands on the plough and never look back. That will be a small token of appreciation for what God has done for us.
